About Dr. Angela Golden, Immediate Past President of American Association of Nurse Practitioners
In this episode Dr. Angela Golden shares her nursing career from a critical care registered nurse, certified flight nurse, school nurse to family nurse practitioner. Dr. Golden shares what inspired her interest to pursue her education as a nurse practitioner to provide healthcare to members of her community in Arizona. As an AANP member she has found professional fulfillment in serving as Arizona state representative, Regional 9 Director, Secretary, and most recently as the President of AANP finishing her term June 2015. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and chapters, retired as an assistant professor graduate nursing at Northern Arizona University, is the author/editor of the Shaping Policy, Improving Practice column of the Journal of Nurse Practitioners (JNP), and is business owner of a nurse practitioner practice in Arizona. History of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners
During her term as President of the AANP in 2013, Dr. Golden played an active role in merging the two national nurse practitioner organizations. The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners with 28,000 members and the American College of Nurse Practitioners with 5,000 members joined as one unified voice as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, currently with 61, 000 members. You can read more about the history of the AANP here.
We look forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the nurse practitioner profession with great education, colleagues, and lots of networking in a fabulous city.
